Şampiyonlar Ligi’nden hallice bir listeye sahip bu seneki Oscar’larda en çok dikkat çeken filmler şaşırtmadı tabii ki. Jane Campion imzalı Netflix filmi The Power of the Dog’un 12 adaylıkla domine ettiği listede Denis Villeneuve’ün Dune uyarlaması 10 adaylığa sahip oldu. Villeneuve’ün En İyi Yönetmen kategorisine aday olarak alınmaması ise bizi şaşırtmadı değil. Dune ve The Power of the Dog’a ek olarak En İyi Film kategorisinde CODA, Belfast, Don’t Look Up, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, West Side Story ve Drive My Car gibi yapımlar Oscar heykelciği için yarışacak. Japonya’nın Oscar adayı Drive My Car’ın bu kategorideki yabancı dilde çekilen tek film olduğunu da belirtmeden geçmeyelim.
Listenin en iyi oyuncu kategorileri de hayli çekişmeli. Kristen Stewart, Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Olivia Colman ve Jessica Chastain En İyi Kadın Oyuncu adaylığı için; Javier Bardem, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Garfield, Will Smith ve Denzel Washington ise En İyi Erkek Oyuncu adaylığı için yarışacak.
